In Case You Were Wondering. . .
this is how you flip a dump truck back on to it's wheels.
I came home from some light holiday shopping to find a recycling truck flipped on its side. I have a pretty good idea as to how it happened, too. The stop sign that leads out of our development seems to have no impact on people. The word yield doesn't even apply here. A rolling stop doesn't fit either. Most people look both ways and floor it if they don't see another car coming. It's interesting. There are at least 5 police officers that live our development. You would think that neighbors would at least try to abide by a few of the traffic rules
This truck was turning left onto the main road. He had to be driving fast in order flip this monster machine. Luckily, they didn't go over the embankment into the woods below. Seriously, people would have died, but no one was injured this time.
All I know is that the Styrofoam egg carton I sneaked in the bottom of the bin got picked up before this major accident that has had the road blocked for about 3 hours. I love recycle day!

Sherry Baby
This past weekend Greydon has chosen his first favorite song. A little background. . .
This time last year my Aunt Deb treated our family to a night at the theater to see Jersey Boys. Fletcher and I did our best Mad Men circa 1962 impersonations and we had one of the best times out that I can remember.
Since then, Fletcher and I think back with found memories to that night out on the town with our family, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. We also have downloaded a few of the songs from the show on our iPod.
Greydon has taken a love to the song Sherry. Just see for yourself!

Happy Thanksgiving!
This year my parents joined us for Thanksgiving. They came last weekend and my Mom, gal-pal Pia, and I hit the Gaithersburg Craft Fair. They spent Monday and Tuesday taking in some tourist sites as they seemed to never be tourists when they lived in Maryland. It's nice to visit your own town as a tourist.
On Thanksgiving we all lounged in a jammies for hours and Greydon, a year older now, seemed to enjoy the Rockettes just as much as he did last year. Hubba hubba!
Fletcher made an amazing turkey and rather than pumpkin pie this year I made an upside down apple tart borrowed from my mother's Southern Living magazine. I substituted half of the granulated sugar with brown sugar for a richer flavor thus explaining the darker color in my photo versus the Southern Living's photo. Second, I took on my second Pioneer Woman recipe -- Nantucket Cranberry Pie. My first attempt was to make Ree's Cinnamon Rolls which were unbelievably good. I want to be two for two. And the result. . .yep, the cranberry pie was incredible. So good that my dad requested I send the recipe to my mom who could then make it for him whenever he wants.
Pat and Don joined us on Saturday for a short one day visit. Pat made Fletcher a Pumpkin Spice cake with cream cheese frosting for an early birthday celebration. She actually used a real pumpkin (no canned stuff here) for the cake portion. She has also promised us a tutorial on how to make her famous pumpkin roll. Full recipe and photos to come.

More Fall Fun
We had some more fall fun a couple weekends ago. It was the weekend before our anniversary, so Fletcher and I like to go back to our wedding spot on Sugarloaf Mountain to see the leaves. We always stop by the farm stand on the way home. They have the most diverse selection of pumpkins around. We even saw some roosters fight! That was pretty exciting. Lastly, we carved our pumpkins. I absolutely adore autumn. Words don't even come close to how much I love these season.

Word Up, G!
Last week was Greydon's school's Halloween Parade. Just as last year, Greydon and his class paraded to the front lobby and hung out with the other infants and toddlers. He hates being hot and wearing lots of layers and hats, so in order to create a low-impact costume we decided that Rap Star, "G" would be most appropriate. But really, we just thought it would be really funny to put a baby in a rap star costume.
His dope rope was created out of sparkly thread wound together and tacked on using the same thread. I didn't want him to choke, so everything was hand stitched down. I'm trying to keep his costumes old skool by hand making them myself until he thinks it's really uncool to have Mom make his outfit.

Fall Fun
It's been a while since I posted to the blog and I really have no excuses other than "we've been busy" and I know that's not good enough for some of you. (I've had some customer complaints in recent months, so I'm trying improve the post frequency. . .Katrin and Lynn, that's YOU!)
So, here we go, a series of photos to keep you entertained! Plus, I love hearing how adorable my child is because, well, he is quite adorable. I'm not gonna deny. I'm not a liar.
For the past three weekends either Fletcher or I have taken Greydon to a local farm. Twice to Larriland and most recently today to Bulter's. Nothing says cozy-n-fall-fun photos than some time in the punkin' patch and apple picking. We will probably go again next weekend, too, when my mother swings through town.
Don't you wish I lived near by to photograph YOUR kids and family??? Oh, and for those of you who haven't seen me in the past month or so, I chopped all my hair off.
