Late December Back in '63

We went out tonight. We actually got all dressed up Mad Men style and left the house without Greydon. Amazing, I know. My girlfriend, Celine, came over to watch Greydon while Fletcher and I enjoyed ourselves to an evening at the thee-a-tor. My aunt so graciously bought a bunch of tickets to see Jersey Boys at the National Theater in DC. Cousin Taylor, fresh back from a year in Argentina, her gal-pal Lauren, Mom, Dad, Aunt Deb and Uncle Len. We were all there in our long gloves and teased hair. We had an absolute blast. One of the best nights I can remember in a very long time.

Thanks you Debra! Thank you Celine!

Doing our best Draper impersonations although we are looking quite happy.

Greydon's First Instrument

Greydon got a pair of chiquitas at the music store this past weekend. What a musician! I think he might be a natural. Since day one, when he drinks from his bottle he taps one hand on the side or keep the beat with his foot.

I'm going to need a set of earplugs!

Bendy Straw

I wish I was a bendy straw like Greydon. He played up until the very last wink where he then leaned forward and fell asleep on his squirrel. He folded completely in half. See, told you -- bendy straw.

Thanksgiving

This post is a bit old, but never too late for some cute pics.

Greydon, meet the Rockettes. Ooh la la!

First turkey. It was fannnnntastic!

We start 'em young

Fletcher and I think it's never to early to start teaching Greydon the proper way to hold a camera. Here, G is holding my first camera. It's a Fisher Price Trip to the Zoo slideshow with very groovy 70's kids and zoo animals. Yep even zoo animals were groovy back then.

Painting the Living Room - Behr Plateau

I was slightly bored while on maternity leave, so I kept busy by making numerous trips to Home Depot to buy paint samples for the house. (you should see our bedroom -- it's like a construction sight.) So the yellow you see in the "before" pics are colors we wound up not using. It was just too yellow.

Ugh, those paint samples have been haunting me for months!

I really got married because I needed a boy to hook up my tv and cable.

Namaste, my friends.

The First Meeting

A couple weeks ago I got an email from my long time friend, Chamnan. She and her husband and baby boy, Steven, were in town visiting from Monterey, CA and invited us over for a "dinner party." Thinking this was going to be an intimate gathering of the Ears, Biggins, and Caldwells, I was prepared for a quiet evening at Chamnan's family home in Silver Spring. I have known Chamnan for 15 years and should know better by now. There were about 6o people in the house most of which were some sort of extended family members. There was food next to food with more food on top of plates of food. What a kick!

Our boys are 13 days apart and it was their first meeting. I hope that they will someday get to know each other and laugh like Chamnan and I do.

Chamnan was my first friend at college. I met her during Freshman orientation the summer before school started in 1994. My parents and and I drove her home to Gaithersburg after orientation and since then I have felt a special bond with her. We can go for a year without seeing each other and pick up right where we left off.

And let's not forget Becky and her 3 year old, Austin. Another Frostburg friend and I always thoroughly enjoy every time we get together. At only a couple weeks old, Austin was the youngest to attend our wedding in November, 2006. Austin, you are so big now!!

Yep, that's drool. Like major amounts of drool.

"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"

Today, Discovery Kids Place (Greydon's home away from home) had a Halloween Parade. Basically, we walked the kids to the front of the building. That's about it. The kids had fun and they all looked adorable! No candy for the children, but Greydon will leave with his very first pumpkin!

I made the t-shirt from a kid-sized shirt. With a little sewing machine action and some fabric markers, your kid can also look like Charlie Brown. But can your kid be hopelessly optimistic and adorably sweet? That's not something you can dress up.

I did not realize Charlie Brown drooled so much.
